POT IN DC

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pot becomes legal in the nation's capital tomorrow. District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser says the city will go ahead with a voter passed initiative to legalize the illegal weed. The move comes despite congressional attempts to block it. It will be legal for people 21 or older to possess up to 2 ounces of pot and grow up to three mature plants at home for personal use. But pot can't be legally sold in D-C. The city will not tax or regulate pot, steps that were explicitly banned by Congress. But the city could still face a legal challenge from Capitol Hill.

FIRE STATION WEDDING

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Captain Chuck Kramaric says his firefighters are a bunch of romantics. The crew at his suburban Washington firehouse came to the rescue -- when a couple needed to get hitched. Marc and Camille Bethea's wedding plans were snowed under over the weekend. He's a Marine Corps reservist about to be deployed. The venue where they were to be married had a roof collapse. A second venue canceled because the parking lot was snowed in and the pastor bowed out, too. A new pastor was lined up, who suggested the couple call area fire and police stations. Fire Station 105 in Arlington County agreed to host the wedding. One firefighter even hummed the wedding march. The new bride says the firefighters are her heroes.

OFFICIAL PET-UTAH

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Thanks to some fourth-graders, the golden retriever is a step closer to being Utah's official state pet. The Utah Senate approved the pet bill yesterday, which now goes to the state House. Students at South Jordan Daybreak Elementary learned the golden retriever was the most popular pet in Utah during a research assignment. The kids then prepared a list of reasons why the dog should be recognized. The list as given to their state representative.

BROWNS-NEW LOGO

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Orange is the new Browns -- and the old one too. The Cleveland Browns have updated their iconic logo, their orange helmets. The Browns are sticking with tradition, another orange helmet, but a little bolder than the old one. Some fans are expressing their disappointment on social media. But the team says fans looking for change should wait for the Browns new uniforms, to be unveiled April 14.
