A Real Gas - 08/26/14
Last year I did a story on gas with no ethanol added, like we all used to buy back in the day. It's more expensive but gives you more miles per gallon and runs a little cooler.
It's not available on every corner but a gas station near me just added a non-ethanol pump. Today I filled my tank with it. It was definitely more expensive but the extra mileage was immediately evident.
I have a 3.5 litre with a top gas mileage projected at 31-mpg. Between the station and my office I was up to 32.4 mpg. We'll run this tank and see if I can maintain that. I normally average right at 28 miles per gallon with a combination city and highway driving.
It's a fun little experiment. I'll keep you posted.
