"AMERICAN IDOL"

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- If Paula Abdul is right, Syesha could be going home tonight. Abdul is usually the contestants' biggest booster on "American Idol." But last night Abdul was downright apologetic when she told Syesha her performance might not be good enough to get into the finals. Simon Cowell compared David Archuleta to a Chihuahua when he should have been a tiger. As for David Cook, Simon says he won the night. Tonight, we'll know which two hopefuls will be singing to be the next "American Idol."

"DANCING WITH THE STARS" - MARISSA IS OUT

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Marissa Jaret Winokur says she never thought she'd make it this far on "Dancing with the Stars." She was cut last night. But the plus-sized Winokur says she's proud of what she accomplished. She says she's proved you don't have to be a "size-zero" to dance. She adds people should do what makes them "feel sexy" and "shake what your mama gave you." Jason Taylor, Kristi Yamaguchi and Cristian de la Fuente will dance in the finals next Monday.

"SPEED RACER" - MATTHEW FOX

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The fight scene Matthew Fox has in "Speed Racer" wouldn't have been so tough if he wasn't dressed up as Racer X. The suit was really hot and didn't breathe. He says the amount of sweat pouring off him made the fight "really grueling." He says the dehydration he suffered was "intense."

SHIA LABOUEF ONLY WANTED CIGGIES

NEW YORK (AP) -- Turns out it was a nicotine jones that led to Shia LaBeouf's arrest in Chicago. Get it? Jones, as in "Indiana Jones." Anyway, LaBeouf tells David Letterman on Monday's "Late Show" that he got "pretty wasted" before his stint in "the drunk tank" last November for refusing to leave a Walgreen's store in Chicago. He says he made three trips that night to the drug store for cigarettes, but got distracted the first two times with pimple cream and candy. The security guard was watching him each time. Prosecutors later dropped charges because Walgreen's and a security company indicated they didn't want to continue the case. LaBeouf says he learned that "drinking and driving is one thing, but drinking and shopping ... it's just as bad."

JAMES GARNER - RECOVERING FROM "MINOR" STROKE

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- James Garner is expected to be leave a hospital shortly after a minor stroke. He was at home Friday when he became ill. That's when he went to a hospital. His publicist says he's doing well and predicts he'll be going him soon but doesn't know when. Garner turned 80 last month. Looking back at his TV career, for many people, James Garner will always be "Maverick." To many others, Garner is best known as Jim Rockford on "The Rockford Files." More recently, James Garner played Katey Sagal's father in the sitcom "8 Simple Rules ... For Dating My Teenage Daughter." He joined the cast in 2003 after John Ritter, who played Sagal's husband, died during the show's second season.

BARBARA WALTERS LIES ABOUT HER AGE

WASHINGTON (AP) -- For all the personal and painful revelations Barbara Walters makes in her autobiography, "Audition," she's still keeping one thing secret. Her age. Walters says it's her "one fetish." The AP says she's 78, so Walters was asked if a correction was needed. Walters replied, "I apologize to the AP," but she won't come clean. She says she's knows it's "dopey," but she's not going to discuss her age. And that goes for her little dog, too. She admits she lies about Cha-Cha's age, as well. Cha-Cha is older than she'll admit to.

"BACK TO YOU" IS CANCELED

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kelsey Grammer says it's a surprise and a shame that Fox is canceling "Back to You." It's so much of a surprise that on Friday, Grammer taped an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel's talk show promoting the series. When he got home later that evening he received a call telling him his sitcom was canceled. He tells the AP that prior to that call, he'd been told the show was coming back. Grammer doesn't agree with people who say "Back to You" is costing Fox too much, with him and Patricia Heaton as stars. He says "that's rarely a stumbling block if they really want a show. There are ways around that. They just really didn't want it." "Back to You" had a strong debut last fall but its audience has slipped. The final episode airs tonight.

"NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE" LIVES

NEW YORK (AP) -- "The New Adventures of Old Christine" has more life in her and "How I Met Your Mother" will see another season, too. That's the word from a Hollywood executive who's in the know and who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting CBS' public announcement today. CBS is also renewing "Rules of Engagement" and "The Unit."

CW SCHEDULE

NEW YORK (AP) -- The CW is banking on more spoiled, wealthy kids. The CW confirms it is launching the next generation to "Beverly Hills 90210" in the fall. It'll feature two high schoolers from Kansas who move to California and enroll in West Beverly Hills High School. Original show cast member Jennie Garth will appear occasionally as a guidance counselor. Another new series, "Surviving the Filthy Rich," is about a 23-year-old woman hired to tutor twin rich kids from Palm Springs. The two new series will both air Tuesday nights. With the end of wrestling on the CW, the network is moving "Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Game" to Fridays.

AFTRA TALKS WITH PRODUCERS CONTINUE

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- It's been awfully quiet on the negotiation front between producers and one of the actors unions. Talks began a week ago between the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists or AFTRA, and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Variety predicts they could reach an agreement as early as the end of this week. The other union, the Screen Actors Guild or SAG, had been negotiating for a few weeks but never reached an agreement before stepping aside to let AFTRA start its talks. There's fear SAG could strike if that union doesn't reach an agreement with producers by June 30th.
