LOS ANGELES, California.- American Idol returned to search for the next superstar, as auditions continued in Omaha, Nebraska tonight. As auditions concluded and contestants warm up for Hollywood, the judges sat down with Fox 17's Mikayla Lewis in Los Angeles earlier this month to talk about the new additions to Season 13.

American Idol is full of new aspects this season, like the chamber. Instead of Idol hopeful's walking straight into the room with judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. they are now forced to make a pit stop.

The chamber is a a small room with one door in and another door out to the judges room. The contestants have a few months to warm up, meditate or whatever they need to before auditioning.

Jennifer Lopez said, " I saw that they get a little bit more jittery. I found people to be much more nervous this year."

Every tension-filled moment is captured by a small camera and microphone.

Urban and Connick, Jr. said, "It's like a bullfight. It's like a rodeo, they have that few seconds just before in the box."

Contestant Ben Briley from Gallatin, TN shared his own chamber experience with Fox 17  right before he jetted of to Hollywood last week.

Ben Briley said, " You go in and it's just a rush of emotion and all these crazy things hit you at the same time. I did not notice there was a camera or microphone in there."

Whatever Briley did, it worked. There are many other new things working for Idol this season, including engaging fans. Viewers can now vote during auditions through twitter guessing who will make it through auditions and Idol Legacy Challenges.

Harry Connick Jr. explained, "It's a new show. It's fresh. It's got a little bit of everything. It's got some tears, silliness, it's got seriousness, it's got great talent."

American Idol fans can also expect more changes as the show move on to Hollywood. You can catch American Idol Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7 PM on Fox 17.
