NASHVILLE, TN - That sizzle is a sound that never gets old. "I look forward to it every year" says Tracy Lawrence.
For eight years he has been gathering friends for his mission possible turkey fry. "I think everyone gets such fulfillment out of it. It's a great way to give back" he says.
What started as a small concept has turned into tradition. Tennessee Titans Rob Bironas comes every year. This year he brought along his fiancé - country singer Rachel Bradshaw. "It's the fist thing we've done together like this. Knowing we are helping people feels good" says Rachel.
Weather had Tracy a little concerned about turn out. But the cold, rain and even snow, didn't stop these volunteers. "I've got on my under armor on and we are ready" says Elaine Roy of The Roys.
The parking lot outside the mission was packed and not a single fryer was empty. "Us giving a few hours of our day to give back is nothing. We are blessed and honored it's fun" says Lee Roy.
By days end, over 500 birds were dipped and fried to perfection and no one appreciates it more than Rick Rychel, who is a volunteer today but not long ago was on the other side. "I came through house life recovery program 2010 and it changed my life" he says.
After the last turkey is fried, Nashville Rescue Mission says it's important to remember the need will continue every single day until we meet again for Mission Possible year nine.
