Tens-of-thousands of people are divided over the decision to suspend the star of one of the most popular reality shows on TV.
Wednesday night A&E announced their decision to place Phil Robertson under hiatus from filming of Duck Dynasty "indefinitely." The suspension stems from Robertson's recent anti-gay comments in an interview with GQ. (READ: Duck Dynasty Star Draws Ire, Support for Homosexuality Comments)
A&E Network released a statement saying "We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty."
Within hours, someone created a petition on Change.org that more than 30,000 people have signed as of Thursday morning. There's also a Facebook page called Bring Back Phil Robertson.
Meanwhile, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation commended A&E's decision to suspend Robertson, saying "By taking quick action and removing Robertson from future filming, A&E has sent a strong message that discrimination is neither a Christian nor an American value."
