A 17-year-old Virginia High School student was reportedly kicked out of her prom because she says chaperones thought her dress was too revealing and could bring "impure thoughts" into boys' heads.
According to Clare's blog post on her sister's site, the dress met the "fingertip rule" yet was told some of the fathers chaperoning the event complained because the way she danced was provocative and could lead to the wrong kind of thoughts.
Clare says she wasn't even dancing at the time and was kicked out without even a warning. When Clare and her friends "respectfully" debated her dress with chaperones, they were told not to get involved. When they all asked for a refund because they were going to leave in support of their friend, they were told they would get their money if they all left. After doing so, one of the parents called about the stated refund and was told they wouldn't get their money back after all.
As for Clare, she points to several points which were wrong with the process and called out the men who complained. "I felt violated by the sheer number of male parents that were assigned to do nothing for five hours other then watch girls in short dresses and heels dance to upbeat music. I think that it is sick and wrong that they assigned them to sit on a balcony above us and look down on us and single us out for our clothes or dancing."
