Off-duty North Precinct Officer Travis Kneale, 26, was arrested early Monday morning near downtown Nashville and charged with DUI, violation of the implied consent law for refusing to submit to a breath alcohol test, and unlawful gun possession while under the influence of alcohol, according to a press release from the Nashville Police Department.
A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper saw Kneale driving east in his personal vehicle on Broadway near 6 Avenue South without his headlights on. During the ensuing vehicle stop, the trooper noticed that Kneale smelled of alcohol and that his eyes were bloodshot and watery, the release said. Kneale was extremely unsteady on his feet and failed field sobriety tests. A handgun was located in the console of his vehicle.
Kneale was decommissioned upon his release from jail on a $2,000 bond. Kneale graduated from the Police Academy in December 2012.
