Customers Say Shoe Repair Shop Won't Open to Return Their Shoes -- Sky Arnold

Nashville, Tenn --- The Cohee Shoe Repair shop in South Nashville sat empty Thursday afternoon with a boarded up front window.
It's the same site David Bennett says has been frustrating his family for months.
"When a person takes your money you trust em you get the job done that's what I always had to do," said Bennett.
His story begins last January when Bennett says his son paid Cohee Shoe Repair $50 to fix a pair of work boots.
Bennett says the building was empty two weeks later when he returned to get the shoes.
"I went by there, no show. I go by 2 or 3 days in a row no show," said Bennett.
A month later he was able to reach a woman in the store who told him his son's boots were still not ready.
Bennett says that's the last time he's talked to anyone at Cohee and his son has no idea if he'll ever see his shoes again.
Fox 17 News checked with the Better Business Bureau and found Bennett isn't the only one with that complaint.
The BBB has 5 complaints similar to Bennett's from customers unable to reach the owner of Cohee Shoe Repair.
Brandie McMahan has heard some of those complaints personally at her business next door.
McMahan says customers frequently come knocking wondering how to reach Mr. Cohee.
"The only thing I can tell em is he's sick or messed up there's something wrong," said McMahan.
The business phone line is currently disconnected and Fox 17 was unable to reach the owner at his house.
That owner did contact the BBBC to say the problem is that he's been in and out of the hospital.
A note on the door of the business says the owner will be contacting customers to pick up their shoes as staff becomes available.
That's an explanation that Bennett doesn't buy.
"Do something. You don't hide from everybody you take care of business," said Bennett.
