GALLATIN, Tenn.--In  June, the grass is
greener...the sun shines a little brighter...and now so does this mare.

In March , keno barely made it out  from timothy Decent's Montgomery county  property.

The 62-year-old  is
now facing a mid-July trial for  animal
cruelty charges.

Sumner county based-- volunteer equine advocates--rescued
keno suffering from starvation.

Ken miller says, "now she's bounding around the pasture
full of spirit."

VEA facility manager, ken miller is one of many volunteers
to help keno improve...

 Along with Lacota, a
mustang  who Timothy Decent owned and his
other horse :scout...

Ken miller says, "Our goal is to see all of these
horses get adopted to a good home. Even if we bond with them and hate to see
them go. We still want them to go to a good home "

The 17 horses whose home is currrently the VEA's farm
one  is nearing capacity.

Sunday afternoon- because of donations- the non-profit will
open another property in Gallatin :  a
new-day rescue & rehab.

Ken miller says, "it just makes us happy that we're
able to take care of more horses."

But miller says that more pet owners, need to care more...

Ken miller says, "if people took care of their animals
there would be no need for us. We could pay attention to our own animals."

Miller adopted his horse, Comanche--while caring for him at
farm one.

Ken miller says, "I would compare it to raising a
child. It's your responsibility."
