FAIRVIEW, Tenn. - Some local students successfully pulled off a secret plan helping a student with down syndrome win a special honor. The honor is called the Coming Home King and Queen and how it all went down last night was something out of the movies. It was a priceless moment that will go down in Fairview High School history. It's a title usually reserved for the most popular kids in school, and this year was no different. Matt Shaver has down syndrome, but his classmates still consider him the big man on campus. Matt's still reveling in all the attention that comes with the crown.
Little does he know, his classmates helped him win. They raised enough money for a local scholarship and gave Matt all the credit, which means he got all the votes. The excitement isn't wearing off. This all goes hand in hand with Fairview High School's anti-bullying initiative.
