Nashville, Tenn. -- A Madison family is planning to move to Colorado to give their 5-year-old son access to medical marijuana.
Ryne Gilbert suffered a stroke when he was 22 months old, said his father Brandon Gilbert.
"[It felit like] somebody had punched me in the gut because I didn't realize that a stroke for a 22-month-old was possible," Gilbert said.
Gilbert said Ryne's doctors at Vanderbilt Medical Center have tried everything, but the seizures and stunted development caused by the stroke remain.
The family plans to move to Colorado as soon as Gilbert can find a job there.
"We love Tennessee," Gilbert said. "Nashville, I consider it home but it's not a hard decision. We're at our last chance to help him have a typical, normal life."
Gilbert said the family has collected a lot of medical expenses and are looking for help making the move to Colorado.
