MURFREESBORO, Tenn.-- A 72-year-old woman who was angry at her boyfriend found herself in the hospital and then a jail cell.
Lilly Ann Snell's live-in boyfriend Roger Pitts called Murfreesboro Police after she inandvertently stabbed herself with a Pampered Chef knife while trying to pop a Valentines Day balloon Pitts had given to her in 1988.
According to the report, the couple was arguing over the fact her 28-year-old grand-daughter had recently moved in with them. The altercation intensified when Ms. Snell "started swinging" at Mr. Pitts, striking him. Things got really dicey when she grabbed the knife and Valentine's Day balloon, put the balloon "near her legs" and "started stabbing it."
The knife went through the balloon, penetrating her right leg just above the knee. When police arrived to the scene, they found her in the kitchen "lying on the blood covered floor" and applying pressure to her wound.
Ms. Snell was taken to a hospital where she was treated and then transported to Rutherford County jail.
