Pedestrian Hit by Car in Antioch is Identified as Homeless

ANTIOCH, Tenn. -- A pedestrian is critical after being hit by a car in Antioch.

The accident occurred on Bell Road at Collins Park Drive, just off I-24 East, just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Metro police say the victim is a homeless person who went to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The victim, police say, suddenly ran into the roadway. There were no crosswalks or sidewalks in the vicinity of the crash.

While the driver of the car that hit the pedestrian is not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, the pedestrian is.
