A sinkhole in Hopkinsville, Ky. prompted the evacuation of an assisted living facility, as FOX 17's Meagan O'Halloran reports.
It's located on the property of Gainesville Manor, measures 8 feet wide and is slowly getting bigger.
The fire marshal, engineers and geologists are all investigating. The building is considered potentially dangerous and is closed until further notice. Gainesville Manor is home to 39 patients.
The owner of the facility has boarded up the hole for safety reasons and is working with his insurance agency to come up with a settlement. Geologists say the underground cave system in Kentucky may be to blame for this and other sinkholes in the area.
