FOX News-- A new bill introduced by Senator Edward Markey of Massachusetts would "personalize" guns by using fingerprint-reading technology. The hope is making guns which can only be fired by the owner or authorized users would combat accidental firearm deaths and keep stolen guns from being used in crimes.
Markey believes "this is the type of gun safety legislation that everyone – regardless of political party or affiliation – should be able to support.”
The National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action says they are not opposed to the development of "smart-guns," but are against the government mandating the use of fingerprint-reading technology.
