Washington, DC---Some middle class families who once had insurance are now being asked to put their kids on medicaid. The Affordable Care Act has a beginning, but unlike children's books, the introduction is not inviting for a growing number of families across the country.
Medicaid is healthcare for the needy and the Benjamin's are not poor. Rachel Benjamin was stunned to learn under Obamacare, that five of her six kids needed to go on "CHIP", which is medicaid for kids. She says, "now I'm just going to hope and pray that they are not going to need to go to the doctor."
The Benjamin's current policy is expensive at almost $1800 a month, but it covers everyone. For insurance broker Ed Kafes, it's heartbreaking to tell families to put kids on medicaid. He says , " that's why I'm so incensed."
It's a wrinkle in the healthcare law that even insurance companies are not aware of.
