SPRING HILL, Tenn. -- New homes and businesses are attracting new residents to Spring Hill, but it's also adding to the areas traffic woes.
Congestion along Highway 31 is a big problem.
The roadway is a major thoroughfare between Maury and Williamson Counties. Drivers often encounter long delays during morning and evening rush hours.
Highway 31 has narrow shoulders and a number of established businesses so acquiring right of way is costly and complicated. For that reason the city is studying improvements it can make within the existing right of way.
City Administer Victor Lay says the city has completed a traffic study and is adjusting the timing of traffic lights to ease the flow of traffic on Highway 31.
The city also plans to widen a large section of Duplex Road to include a turn lane and sidewalks.
