NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The federal government is planning to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to teach sex education classes to girls as young as 10 in the small country of Malawi.

It's part of a $10.4 million grant from the Agency for International Development.

Part of the grant will pay for reading classes for girls in primary school, but another part funds classes to teach girls to "adopt positive sexual and health-care seeking behaviors," according to the online grant application.

Danny Duke, who has been homeless in Nashville for six years says he'd like to see more tax dollars helping families in Middle Tennessee.

"There's nothing wrong with helping somebody," Duke said.  "I don't deny that but help people here at home first."

The agency behind the grant could not be reached for comment.
