TIMES SQUARE-HEART SCULPTURE
NEW YORK (AP) -- Love has a heart beat in Times Square. There's now a giant red heart in the middle of the New York landmark. Touch the heart and it starts to beat. Hold hands or kiss and the 10-foot-high sculpture glows brighter and beats even faster. It's an installation celebrating Valentine's Day, courtesy of the Times Square Alliance. The interactive work will stay on display through the end of the month.
DOGS AT WORK
UNDATED (AP) -- Dogs welcome -- at the office. Taking Rover to work is a growing phenomenon, according to researcher Rebecca Johnson of the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine. She says people realize pets can be a great stress-reliever in the workplace. But both the pooches and the people need some training. The experts say employers should set rules for dogs in the office. Some of the suggestions include keeping Fido out of eating areas and the restrooms. Of course, dogs need walking. And that's good for both the animals and their two-legged buddies.
BEACH HORSES
OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Horsing around is now legal at the beach -- in Ocean City. But there are some legal reins to the riding. The City Council in the Maryland beach resort has voted in favor of off-season horseback riding. Permits will be required and horses will be off-limits in dunes and other environmentally sensitive areas. Some critics had been concerned about horse you-know-what in the sand. But riders who don't clean up after their animals face a $500 fine.
CHOCOLATE-COVERED SUSPECT
NEON, Ky. (AP) -- He wasn't good enough to eat. Police in eastern Kentucky charge a young man covered himself in chocolate and peanut butter. According to authorities, 22-year-old Andrew Allen Michael Toothman was just wearing a pair of black boots and the goodies in a supermarket. Troopers say Toothman broke into the store by busting a glass door. State police add Toothman smeared peanut butter around the store, set off fire extinguishers and used bottles of Nyquil to spell out the word "sorry." One trooper tells a local paper (The Mountain Eagle) it was the biggest mess he's ever seen. Toothman now faces a number of charges including burglary and indecent exposure.
