Meningitis Outbreak

Meningitis Outbreak
Today was the first round of Congressional hearings on the Fungal Meningitis outbreak. The owner of the New England Compounding Center refused to testify. U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander believes the FDA should have done more to warn Tennessee patients.

"The Massachusetts compounding facility has had trouble for 10 years," says Senator Alexander. "The State Board in Massachusetts knew that. The FDA knew that. Perhaps the FDA earlier should have put up a red flag."

Tomorrow Senator Alexander will be part of a Senate Committee that's examining the Meningitis outbreak. FOX17's Erika Lathon is in Washington, D.C. right now and will bring us a LIVE report tomorrow on the proceedings.
