In Tonight's Saving You Money report, is a membership to places like the zoo or Cheekwood a good deal or is it smarter to pay as you go?
Little Isabella Tripp's family bought the zoo membership for $100. Without it, the Gallatin couple wouldhave spent $275 for five visits in a year's time.
Factor in the discounts on concessions that come with the membership and that's real savings.

Kim Tripp/ Gallatin Mother says, "It's worth the investment and that's what it is an investment into your family."
It costs a family of four $55 for a trip to the zoo, so membership pays for itself after just two visits.
Jim Bartoo/ Nashville Zoo Spokesman says, "If you plan on being out here once and that's going to be your annual trip to the zoo, it's not worth it for you to do that. But again if you're planning on coming more than once and your kids say I like going to the zoo a lot.. you shoud get a membership. "
At the Adventure Science Center, the most popular membership for a family is $90.
Stacy Case says, "It costs a family of 4, $44 dollars to visit. So, if you're going to come two or more times.. membership is a no brainer."
Virginia Moreland with the Adventure Science Center says, "If you decide by the end of your visit that same day that you want to be a member you can take that admission that day and apply it toward a membership.
Membership here also gets you discounts on camps and the planetarium too.
For Cheekwood, the $75 membership fee for a family of four is $7 shy of paying for itself in two visits, but by the third trip, you're golden.
And one other plus, memberships to these non profit attractions are tax deductible.
Also, membership to Cheekwood earns you reciprocal privileges at other gardens in the U.S. All of the places we featured offer single and couple's memberships too.
Just estimate how many times you'll visit in a year to figure out if membership is a good deal for you.
