Think again----- with bus far as cheap as a dollar, maybe a get-away is in your budget afterall.
They're piling in for a trip that costs some of them less than a soda.
Dustin Smith says, "This is cheaper than putting gas in a car."

clean buses with free wi-fi, movies and power outlets.
Passenger says: "If we would have flew.. we probably would have spent 300 - 400 ?

Instead, they paid $12 bucks each to get to Atlanta.
Stacy Case says: "How do you make money?"
Chamberlain/ Megabus President "We make money by trying to ensure we
have enough people traveling all the time. We have our schedule set up
so it's efficient for us to run."
Stacy Case says: "This is one
way megabus is able to keep prices so low.. Customers meet here in a
parking lot. There are no terminals, no waiting areas. Nothing fancy."
Chamberlain says: "We rent parking lots. In other locations we work
with main terminals owned by the city so we don't own our own
The company also keeps overhead low by not having ticket agents. Online booking is the only option.
Yeomans / Passenger "We're doing a coast to coast trip. We started in
new york. and we find the cheapest way to get about is Megabus. It's
been really cheap."
But the system isn't without flaws. A few weeks ago, a Nashville Megabus bound for Indiana failed to show.
Stacy: What went wrong there?
Chamberlain says: "That was one person's human error. People can make
mistakes and we did get back to the customers and apologized and got
them to their destination eventually..
Megabus refunded their money and says that situation is rare.
