on what's included in the sales tax holiday and what's not-----
The
Cockran's of Franklin are planning to buy a piece of technology this
weekend , since their son will now be allowed to bring it to school for
learning.

The devices we're
looking at are in the $200 - 300 dollar range. That's a big ticket
item.. So somewhere $20 - $30 dollars it all adds up.
But not
all tech products are included. The item has to be under $1500
dollars. Bundles computers are. But monitors, keyboards, speakers, and
printers bought separately are not. E-readers, video games, &
Softwaredon't qualify either.
Clothing is another big savings draw. And no, you don't have to be a student to take part.
Lynda Erwin / Sears Manager
Anybody
can shop for apparel this weekend tax free. So it's a good time if you
have students who are going back to school... or if you just want to go
out and buy some new things for your fall wardrobe..
Stacy Case
says: Clothing can be confusing, but it's really simple if you just
remember this. Items under $100 like this windbreaker qualify. Items
over $100 like this sportcoat do not.
The same goes for shoes---athletic, dress, heels... it's all included.
But jewelry, bags and sports equipment are not.
Finally, school supplies under $100 bucks are tax exempt.
This Lewisburg teacher will be combing the aisles this weekend buying supplies for her students who can't afford them.
Debra Crable /Lewisburg Teacher
They
can get their own and bring it in.. But for the ones that don't, I
always make sure I have enough for everbody.. No one ever feels left
out.
