Saving You Money
It's hard to believe this all started in a Brentwood garage.
This is the largest consignment sale anywhere in the entire Southeast.....
Connie Hasty/ Encores founder says "Every kind of baby equipment and toy you've ever dreamed of."
As for Sarah Barker, it's a two fold proposition. She comes to save and MAKE money!
She says, " I'm cheap so I price it as what I would pay for it.. keep prices low. $3 for this. $4 for that." .
Last year, this Spring Hill mom made $200 selling her used stuff, and put some of that back into used clothing for her son for the year to come. Smart Money.
The sale is run by Encores Consignment, which started this savings frenzy two decades ago in Connie Hasty's garage.
Hasty says, " Look brand new. Tags -- Gap... $4. Why would you go to the mall and pay $34 for this when you can come here and get great deals?
Stacy Case says, "The sale fills a space about the size of Wal-Mart at prices 1/3 to a 1/2 of what you'd pay retail."
Hasty says they have top brands too. " We have tons of Gymboree, Matilda Jane, Jill and Jake, Kissy Kissy."
A thousand consignors fill the racks from toys, to clothes to baby equipment, And don't forget the shoes.
Hasty says, "We'll probably have 50 tables of shoes, all sizes including adult. Plus, it's a great place to score cheap Halloween costumes. The sale starts Saturday.
Sarah Barker explains what it's like right before the doors open, "People will wait in lines forever just to get in."
Thankfully, you won't find any consignors and volunteers in that long line. They get to shop early, before the sale opens to the public.
Hasty says, "We have plenty of people who have plenty of money who come shop this and they have that money because they're smart with their money."
Remember, check zippers and buttons on all consigned clothing before you buy. If you're going, it's at the USBA Sports Complex in Franklin at 1850 General George Patton Drive. The sale opens at 1:00 Saturday to the general public. There's a presale for first time moms which starts at 9am, but you do have to preregister for that.
