"We had the songs, had them ready, we said let's put it out and give the fans something to get excited about," says Campbell.
In front of a big Nashville crowd, Campbell held a concert to officially release the 5 song EP that features 3 songs written by Campbell himself.
"I'm a little more laid back, the song selection is a little more intense," says Campbell. "Recorded a few songs I didn't write. Went in with the mindset that the best song will win."
Campbell moved to Nashville 10 years ago, starting out as a keyboard player for Luke Bryan and a regular at The Stage.
"My dream was to have a song on the radio and have an album you could buy other than the one in the back of my car," says Campbell.
Campbell says he's learned a lot since his debut and although the follow up album isn't done just yet, he's certain this EP will give fans just enough. A little tease of the changes in his music that are to come.
"We had success with 'family man' and 'fish' but I don't think I've busted through that country music ceiling," says Campbell. "I think this is going to allow me to do that."
Campbell says the biggest difference you will notice is the material. The last album didn't have any love songs. This one does. He also says the instrumentation is different. You can pick up your copy of his EP by downloading it on iTunes. The full album will be released sometime in the Spring.
