I'm Saving You Money tonight on movies, music, magazines and more...
You once had to go to your local library to enjoy these things free,
but now --- or very soon --- they'll all be available at your
fingertips.
Many of the things you once had to go here to
get. You can now get free at home on your laptop, desktop, smartphone
or tablet. The New Year brings a 'new' push by the Nashville Public
Library to give you more of what you want more conveniently, starting
with magazines.
Renuka Christoph with the Nashville Public
Library explains, "We have everything from National Geographic to
Consumer Reports. When library users go on and download their favorite
magazine, they'll be pleased to see it's completely in tact just like a
print version."
This is a new freebie that just started this
week. With magazines under their belt movies are next. In the next
couple of months, you'll also be able to download your favorite flick
free.
Lacie Madison also with the Nashville Public Library says,
"It's called Hoopla. It's like Netflix, but better. They can just
stay at home and be on their computer and get instant access to our
library collection."
Patrons like Tom Mason are looking
forward to that. The Musician and lead singer of the Blue Bucaneers is
on tour 200 days a year. "I travel enough so that I can't join Netflix
or anything."
However, he does check out movies. Another free
perk? The library system will drive your requested movie to the branch
closest to you.
Lacie Madison says, "Type in your library card
and what branch you'd like it to be at and it will be sent there and
you'll get an email notification as soon as it's available."
Pretty cool and convenient. Music is the other free find. You can
download your favorite songs 24/ 7 on the library's Freegal program.
It's not like checking out a book where you have to return it. The songs are yours to keep.
The Nashville Public Library has added lots of new E-books too. The
collection consists of 35 thousand books. Many other Midstate libraries
offer these same services. Check with your local branch to find out
more.
