HEBER SPRINGS, Arkansas - An update on country singer Mindy McCready's current custody battle. FOX17 has learned McCready was ordered into a treatment facility Wednesday after concerns arose about her mental health. Her 2 children are now in state custody in Arkansas. Sources close to McCready tell "E News Online" she's having trouble dealing with the death of her fiance. The father of McCready's oldest son, Billy McKnight, who lives in Florida, is now taking McCready to court. He's asking for full custody of their son Zander.
"He's got family here that he knows," says McKnight. "He'll have stability here. He's only 6 years old, and he's been wrung through quite a ringer with this nonsense. It's gone on way too long. That won't happen here."
"This matter has been further complicated by Ms. McCready's institutionalization," says McKnight's attorney William White. "I don't know what her ability is going to be to take part in a hearing."
The death of McCready's fiance David Wilson is still under investigation in Arkansas.
