LOS ANGELES, California - Hollywood Week continued for the men of "American Idol". This time, they performed solo for the judges. A lot of favorites made it through, but some did not.

Michael Johnson from Georgia has been one of the more popular contestants on "Idol" thus far, not only for his voice, but his remarkable story. Michael has a severe speech impediment because of nerve damage he sustained after surgery to remove his tonsils. The only time it's not present is when he sings. Unfortunately, something was missing. The judges hesitantly sent him home.

One of our locals, Jimmy Smith, who came to chat with Stacy McCloud a few weeks ago about his "Idol" experience, was one of the 20 that impressed the judges enough to advance past the solo round. He sang "Landslide". Mariah told him that he's been one of her favorites since the beginning.

Last but not least, another local advances past Hollywood Week. Paul Jolley, from Nashville, sang Carrie Underwood's hit "Blown Away". He blew away the judges, advancing on in the competition. Only getting some slack from Nicki Minaj for expressing how nervous he was.

Speaking of "Blown Away", we have the story behind that hit Carrie Underwood song. You can watch it on Fox17.com. Hollywood Week continues next Wednesday and Thursday with the ladies. To keep up with all "Idol" news until then, make sure and follow Stacy McCloud on Twitter @stacymccloud.
