"I can't just do those 2 there was still that aching in my heart to do that solo stuff too," says Monroe.
Long overdue, her album "Like a Rose", which is also the name of her first single, is finally out.
"It is the first song I wrote with Guy Clark," says Monroe. "I had all the best ideas planned. Guy brushed over them and said tell me about yourself. I told about my life and I ended the story saying I came out like a rose and he said why don't we just write that?"
Monroe has had the support of many big names, one being the producer of the album, country legend Vince Gill.
"I moved here when I was 15 and met him after," says Monroe. "He always stood back and silently watched me."
Gill wanted to make sure Ashley showed all sides of her personality, and even co-wrote one of the more humorous tracks "You Ain't Dolly and You Ain't Porter" featuring Blake Shelton! Each song on the album is special to Monroe, but her favorite is "The Morning After".
"Every time I sing to that it gets to me," says Monroe. "Not only drinking but being heartbroken the morning after and still feeling it."
9 tracks that, more than anything, Ashley hopes fans will relate to. To buy Ashley's album and find out when and where she is playing LIVE, visit the FOX LINKS section of our webpage!
