The Sounds Face Pressure For a Stadium

THE SOUNDS ARE LINING UP BEHIND THE PREDATORS FOR SUPPORT FROM THE CITY.

THE SOUNDS ARE UNDER INCREASING PRESSURE FROM MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TO BUILD A NEW STADIUM.

TONIGHT SOUNDS G-M GLEN YAEGER HOPES TO GET A NEW LOOK FROM A NEW ADMINISTRATION

EVEN DURING THE OFF SEASON NASHVILLE SOUNDS GENERAL MANAGER GLEN YAEGER IS STILL FOCUSED ON ONE THING.

GLEN YAEGER / SOUNDS GENERAL MANAGER: "There is a premium on getting the ballpark built."

DREAMS OF BUILDING A DOWNTOWN BALLPARK COLLAPSED LAST YEAR WHEN A DEAL BETWEEN THE SOUNDS AND THEIR DEVELOPMENT PARTNER FELL APART.

BUT TONIGHT A NEW ADMINISTRATION OFFERS NEW HOPE.

"We been in talks with Mayor Dean and expressed intrest in trying to figure a way to get a ballpark built downtown.

KARL DEAN / NASHVILLE MAYOR: "I know the sounds are interested in having a new stadium, again this is something we have to look at very carefully. We went down that road last year where we attempted to build a stadium, that didn't happen. I don't want to go back down that road until I know that every party involved can perform like they say they're gonna perform."

IN THE MEANTIME THE CLOCK IS TICKING ... AND THE SOUNDS HAVE HAD SEVERAL INFORMAL MEETINGS WITH THE MAYOR OF FRANKLIN AS THEY EXPLORE OTHER OPTIONS.

"Its more that major league baseball is requiring us to build a new facility, so there is a premium now on getting a facility build and less interest on where we want to put he ballpark."

TONIGHT NO ONE IS SURE WHERE THE SOUNDS WILL END UP ... BUT THE TEAM AND THE MAYOR AGREE DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE IS A GOOD FIT FOR BASEBALL.

"We understand there maybe other priorities. We firmly believe that downtown baseball will draw more people than any other sports option at a very affordable price."

"I think baseball downtown would work. I think having a green space like that would be nice, but the financial portion of it is really critical thing right now."

MAYOR DEAN SAYS RIGHT NOW HE'S FOCUSED ON HOCKEY BUT HE'S WILLING TO LOOK AT ANY PROPOSAL THE SOUNDS PUT TOGETHER
