Project for Student Success

Nashville mayor Karl Dean introduced the members of a new project Wednesday. The initiative is called the Project for Student Success, formed in efforts to help improve the drop out rate.

Dean has gathered a group of 40 community members to research why students drop out, the factors that cause them to drop out, and what can be done to keep them in school. The group will be further divided into four sub-committees.

The members are expected to bring their findings along with their recommendations to the mayor by June.

The group includes educational professionals, government officials, neighborhood groups, faith-based and non profit organizations, members from the business community along with parents and students.

Vice Mayor Diane Neighbors and Belmont University President Bob Fisher are acting co-chairs of the project.
