DJ Skribble-Stacy McCloud
It's not very often you can say one of the best DJ's in the world is performing in your city, but that was the case August 28, 2009, in Nashville.
DJ Skribble is known for paving the way for big name DJ's of today.
DJ Skribble has been mixing music since 1980.
He made his Nashville debut at Mai on August 28.
He says, "Everyday I wake up it's like how will I make people dance and when I get to come to a new city not been in a while .. I'm stoked."
He's been a part of the music scene for years.
DJ Skribble says, "People that came to see me 10 years ago .. their little brother's and sister's are coming to see me now. So it's an amazing thing to be still doing it after so long."
And known as the first DJ to gain celebrity status.
He says, "People say I paved the way for the AM's and the vices and the and all the guys that are out now .. that I was the first celebrity DJ .. so I don't look at myself as a celeb I look at myself as a guy that likes to make people shake their thing."
Many may remember Skribble from his 1/2 dozen shows on MTV, but he's also been featured on Broadway and the big
screen, and mixed music from one side of the world to the other.
Skribble says from 1980 when he started spinning professionally until now, he's seen a big change.
He says he's proud that DJ's are finally being recognized as true musicians.
He says, "The turntables have now almost become like an instrument. You have guys that are out there using them like instruments when they are scratching and stuff with pitch control .. we aren't just up there playing records."
"It's a life of it's own to were fisher price makes DJ toys now."
