Lorrie Morgan-Stacy McCloud
Lorrie Morgan is ready to give her fans a double dose of music.
She's releasing two new CD's and getting ready for another big project. One of those CD's is a collection of old favorites and the other is songs that could be classics in the making.
Morgan lends her voice to the classics with a new album of standards, "A Moment in Time."
Morgan says, "They are all my favorites, I think my favorite cut on the entire album is "Are You Lonesome Tonight."
Working on an Elvis hit can be a challenge.
Morgan says, "Everyone is expecting it to be like is she crazy! Why would she go and -- but it's not really trying to outdo the classic, its my tribute to the songs that I love." To get that old-school feel, Morgan insisted on recording these songs the old-fashioned way.
Morgan says, "That is for everybody to go in one room, same room, no vocal booths, no drum booths, and everybody be in there one microphone."
Morgan is excited to have more songs to add to her "On the Road" repertoire.
Morgan says, "I'm on tour all the time so it's not like rock and roll where they go out a couple months, we as country artists most of us - stay gone off and on all year long."
After this run, she hits a different stage-Broadway- taking the role of Lula in "Pure Country."
Morgan says, "It will be something to rejuvenate me and make me just struggle a little harder and try a little harder."
As if she wasn't busy enough, Morgan also has a new CD of her own songs on the way, called "I Walk Alone."
Morgan says, "Tthe album is like my soundtrack to my life esp my life in the last 3-4 years."
Morgan says she co-produced the new album and took about a year to write songs for it.
