7 on 7 Passing Practice-(Dave Foster)

High school football teams are doing this more and more every summer.
We're talking 7-on-7 passing camps.

And as Fox 17's Dave Foster shows us this fun way of training is more than just a passing fancy!

It's a long way from daytime passing camps to gametime under the lights.
And it's a distance that's best traveled through the air for high school teams at Vanderbilt's 7 on 7 passing camp.

Brian rector:"there's a pretty big phenomenon with the 7 on 7's lately.

Over the past 5-6 years, they've grown from local tournaments, the colleges have really blown them up to be events really."

And they're events that are changing high school offenses more and more each year in the fall from the ground to the air.

Will Hester:"it was the wishbone.
But a lot more people are going to the spread and emulating college and the nfl a lot more. this is a great chance for us to practice that without being in full pads."

Dave Foster:"the TSSAA passed a new rule this year, no football activity in june. a couple of weeks ago, they were allowed to start workouts and participate in camps like this one. No pads though until july 28th."

Rector:"it's really a whole lot better in my opinion, that we can do them in july then work right into practice."

Phillip shadowens:"you're going to get a whole lot better conditioning here than anything you get out there running so this is the alarm clock that says football's about to start."

And that clock is ticking on a quickly approaching 2008 season.

The first week of the regular season games begins august 22nd!
