Vandy Alert System

Students and faculty at Vanderbilt University could be notified within seconds of an emergency.

On Monday the school began using a new alert system called Vandy-VU.

The wide area rapid notification system works by sending mass text messages, e-mail and phone calls during an emergency.

The free service is available to anyone on the Vanderbilt University or Medical Center campus.

So far twenty seven hundred people have signed up for the alert system.
