More Victims of Rape May Come Forward
Metro police say they believe there may be more victims of the Wooded Rapist out there.
None has come forward but tonight local rape counselors are preparing for an increased volumes of calls to crisis lines.
They say high profile arrests like this often motivates other rape victims to come forward.
Rachel Freeman says: "having a suspect in custody can be validating for victims to know the person has been caught and hopefully he will be punished for what he did .. it makes them feel safer because in the situation like this if the suspect goes uncaught the perpetrator goes uncaught .. theres that constant sense of fear that this could happen again and he knows where I live .. those types of concerns."
Freeman says the most important thing for victims of rape and sexual abuse to know is that the attack isn't their fault, they are not alone and there is help.
If you need to talk to a trained counselor call the rape and sexual abuse center's crisis line at 1-800-879-1999.
