Tennesseans Carry Handgun Permits - Cindy Carter
Right now, more than 193-thousand Tennesseans have valid handgun carry permits. Those numbers, offered by the Tennessee Department of Safety, include more than twelve thousand permit holders in Davidson County.
Recent reports of citizens defending themselves against criminals doesn't surprise Joelton shooting range owner, Rob Corcoran. Corcoran says each year, he sells more guns and teachers more classes to Tennesseans interested in meeting the state's handgun permit requirements.
Corcoran says his clients are tried of feeling victimized. "They come in. They get their permit. They go through the process because they want to be able to defend themselves, you know, the way the law says we can."
The Tennessee Firearms Association points out; just last year, the state legislature expanded self defense statutes to give greater protection to gun owners should they be forced to pull the trigger for protection.
