8-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot
Officials with the TBI are investigating the shooting death of an 8-year-old Clay County boy.
Pema DeAraujo was shot in the back of the head Sunday night at his home in Hermitage Springs. Clay County officials say it's possible the mother was unloading the 25-caliber gun at the time.
"It was an accident. I know the mom, she's gonna have to live with this the rest of her life and I just hate it for them," said neighbor Angela Crouch.
DeAraujo was transported to the Macon County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officials with the TBI declined to comment on what they believe caused the shooting though they do believe it was an accident.
