Dr. Baber Reaches a Pretrial Settlement - Sarah Bishop
The Sumner County veterinarian who faced a dozen misdemeanor charges reaches an agreement Friday.
It all stemmed from undercover video where Dr. Bill Baber was allegedly shown euthanizing animals at the Sumner County Animal Shelter injecting them directly into the heart without sedation.
Friday in Sumner County Court Baber was granted pre-trial diversion. The prosecution will be suspended for two years and Baber will perform 200 hours of unpaid public service work and pay 5,000 dollars to agencies that help animals.
"There are people who would oppose this resolution, but we have to follow the law no matter what public opinion is, however in this case one of the criteria we're supposed to consider is his social history and reputation in the community and there was an awful lot of people showing support," Sumner County Assistant D.A. Thomas Dean said.Dr. Baber Reaches a Pretrial Settlement - Sarah Bishop
