Grant May Provide Free Bus Rides
If you've been thinking about taking a city bus to save money, you may get a chance to try it for free.
The state department of transportation is offering $200,000 in grants to 5 big city transit agencies, including Nashville and Clarksville, to help fight pollution.
All the cities have to do is apply.
State officials say it's up to them whether to offer free or reduced rides on days when ozone levels are projected to be high.
Getting more people to use public transportation helps clear the air by reducing emissions from cars.
The hope is people who give public transportation a try will become regular users.Grant May Provide Free Bus Rides
