White Powder Scare Downtown
A chemical scare forced the evacuation of a metro building.
Someone sent a letter filled with white powder to the sheriff's department's civil warrant office on south 5-th street.
The woman who opened it was decontaminated and 11 co-workers were partially scrubbed down by the fire department's hazmat unit.
Officials say no one is showing signs of exposure to any kind of toxin.
"we'll give the sample, it'll be taken to the state lab and tested. At this time we don't feel like there's any hazard to it. But here again, just behaving in a professional manner to make sure the citizens are safe"
The FBI was among the agencies on the scene.
Chemical scare hoaxes were common in the weeks after the 9-11 attacks in New York and Washington.White Powder Scare Downtown
