Demoted Lobbyist Mack Cooper Finds New Job
A former top lobbyist for Governor Phil Bredesen has a new government job and the governor isn't happy about it.
Robert "Mack" Cooper was demoted by Governor Bredesen in May of 2005 after sexual harassment allegations.
Cooper is now working as a policy adviser to the Tennessee Regulatory Authority the agency that regulates private utility services.
Bredesen says he wishes Cooper would have stayed in the private sector.
Governor Bredesen says:" I advised against it but its an individual branch and they can do what they want its not part of the executive service I have control over. I wish Mach had ultimately found a job outside of government but he had been hired there and I hope he has his problems behind him."
Cooper will make almost $88,000 a year.
He worked as an adviser for the TRA from 1994 until 2003.
