WBFF Fox 45 :: 3 Year Old Shot in Head
Manchester police continue to investigate the events that led up to a 3-year-old boy getting shot in the head. That toddler remains hospitalized at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Saturday night around 8 p.m. police were called to home on Woodcrest Street in Manchester. When an officer arrived he witnessed a pool of blood on the bathroom floor and a hand gun lying on the counter, according a police report.

According to the police report, the 3-year-old aunt was using the bathroom after a day of shopping. She placed her handgun on the counter, and then left the bathroom when her child began acting up outside the bathroom.

The 3-year-old child and his older sister were in the bathroom as well. That's when the toddler grabbed the gun. His older sister told police she thought the gun was one his toy guns and continued filling the bath tub with water.

The 3-year-old was taken to United Regional Medical Center before being taken to Vanderbilt via LifeFlight where he remains in stable in critical but condition.3 Year Old Shot in Head

Tishomingo County voters OK beer, alcohol sales
May 22, 2013 23:38 GMT

IUKA, Miss. (AP) -- Tishomingo County is the latest Mississippi jurisdiction to legalize alcohol sales.

Voters approved the sale of liquor, wine and beer Tuesday, reports the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/13JCcix).

It wasn't clear referendums would pass until affidavit ballots were counted Wednesday.

With more than half Tishomingo County's voters casting ballots, legalizing alcohol passed by 42 votes, while legalizing beer and light wine passed by 73. The county borders Alabama and Tennessee.

Lawmakers legalized liquor at a proposed resort at the county's Bay Springs Lake in 2010, but it wasn't built.

Greene County voters legalized beer sales last year, while Corinth, New Albany and Senatobia have legalized alcohol sales under a 2012 law that allows cities to hold votes.

Mississippi has 13 remaining counties that allow no beer or alcohol sales.
