WBFF Fox 45 :: Arrest Made in Shooting in Front of Clarskville Nursery
An arrest has been made in the double shooting which occurred in front of  a  Clarksville nursery yesterday.
Travis Lamont Skelton, 26, of Clarksville, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail at around 1:30 a.m. on Friday.
According to police, just before 9:30 a.m. yesterday, a 22-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were shot at 207 Chapel Street in front of Kiddieland Day Nursery. The man had been shot in the arm, hand, and the head was grazed.  The woman had been shot in the hand. The man was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.  The woman was transported  by ambulance to Gateway.  Both are in stable condition.
The investigation revealed there was a fight between the 25-year-old and another man in the street.  The 22-year-old female intervened in the fight and, at some point,  an unknown person fired approximately four handgun rounds hitting both the 25-year-old man and 22-year-old woman. It was also determined the shooting victims were involved in some sort of relationship together. Based on the information obtained at the scene, police have no reason to believe the nursery was targeted in the shooting.  The woman had just dropped her children off at the nursery and the confrontation between the men occurred in the street in front of the nursery.
Skelton is being held on 100,000 bond for two counts of Aggravated Assault.Arrest Made in Shooting in Front of Clarskville Nursery

Miss. chooses new firm to run Woodville prison
May 18, 2013 20:50 GMT

WOODVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi officials have picked a new company to run the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.

Utah-based Management and Training Corp. announced Friday that the Mississippi Department of Corrections has chosen it to run the 1,000-bed prison starting July 1, the Natchez Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/10MvOGv).

Corrections Corporation of America, based in Nashville, Tenn., had run the prison since 1998. MTC says it will keep "the vast majority" of employees.

MTC will get a five-year contract to run the prison with two one-year options. Last year, officials chose MTC to take over East Mississippi Correctional Facility, the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility and the Marshall County Correctional Facility from the GEO Group. MTC won 10-year contracts for each.

CCA still runs the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility and the Adams County Correctional Center in Mississippi.
