The knocker was was a 9 year old girl who lives in that house.
"I heard our neighbor crying screaming someone go down to my house he's killing my grandma," said Zimmerman. "That little girl was part of our family. Pretty much she was with us all the time."
Zimmerman says the girl told him she saw her neighbor Craig Garber stab and kill her 14 year old brother Jonathan Culpepper and her grandmother Marylea Jordan.
"Physically saw him stab her 16 or 17 times, her exact words,"
The girl was able to sneak out of the house and run to Zimmerman's home.
At the time she didn't know her mother Michelle Pinkowski was also dead.
"They were a good family, good people, it's just a shame," said Zimmerman.
Police are now trying to figure out exactly why it happened.
Neighbor Jacki Allison says Garber and Pinkowski were good friends.
"Craig was a very kind man, his family he was always helping people," said Allison.
Allison says Garber actually was trying to be a role model for Pinkowski's son but a series of break-ins were causing stress that Allison believes may have lead to the crime.
"He was concerned that Jonathon was getting in with the wrong crowd. He had a GPS that did not belong to them," said Allison.
Police say they found no stolen goods in the house.
Zimmerman says the scary thing about the crime is that the 9 year old girl could have been a 4th victim.
He believes she would have never escaped if she'd been in her room asleep.
"She wouldn't have had any way past him because he would've been in the way," said Zimmerman.

Houston brother will be his own attorney in court
June 18, 2013 13:02 GMT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Roane County man will face federal gun violation charges next month without an attorney.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17VlXpM ) reported Rocky Joe Houston will represent himself on a charge of possession of a gun by a felon.
The charge came after Houston earlier represented himself in state court on charges stemming from a police chase. He was convicted of evading arrest and reckless endangerment.
Houston and his brother, Leon Houston, were tried, but not convicted, in the 2006 shooting deaths of a Roane County deputy and his ride-along companion.
In federal court, Rocky Joe Houston is claiming the officer who charged him with the felony had no legal authority.
