NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The epi pen bill passed a House Education Subcommittee late Tuesday afternoon. It requires public and private schools to have 2 epi pens on site to treat allergic reactions. One Sumner County boy has become the face of the bill after suffering allergic reactions to food at school.
"They get for instance stung by a bee and they swell up," says Tyler Edwards. "What if there's no epi pen? What will happen? The nearest hospital is an hour away, what will happen?"
Studies show that 25% of allergic reactions in school happen to students who did not know they were allergic to anything.

Man charged with faking marriage to visit inmate

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Washington County authorities say a man faked a marriage certificate so he could visit a woman held in the Johnson City Detention Facility.
The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/14QBr9L ) reports investigators discovered the ruse after the May 14 visit by 32-year-old Robert S. Hicks of Elizabethton. Hicks was arrested Tuesday on a charge of criminal simulation. He was jailed at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond, pending a court appearance Wednesday.
