VATICAN CITY (AP) -- The Vatican is doing its best to makes sure there is no doubt this time.
After 115 cardinals cast their votes Tuesday night and no one gained the 77 votes needed to be elected pope, thick, unmistakably black smoke billowed out of the Sistine Chapel chimney.
Thousands waiting in the chilly rain in St. Peter's Square had no trouble reading the signal. Notre Dame theology major Eliza Nagle exclaimed, "it's waaay black!" while Father Andrew Gawrych commented: "They definitely got the color right this time." The Rome-based American priest was referring to the confusion over the smoke during the 2005 conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI.
That was thanks to special smoke flares -- similar to those used in soccer matches or protests -- lit in the chapel ovens to make the burned ballots black.
The sign means cardinals must come back for another day of voting Wednesday.

Body found in Percy Priest Lake

SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a body has been found in Percy Priest Lake in Middle Tennessee.
WSMV-TV (http://bit.ly/16gYKys) reports officials with Metro Police, the Office of Emergency Management and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency were at the scene Saturday at Hole In The Wall Island. The body was reported to authorities about 11 a.m.
TWRA officials say they believe the deceased man is a boater who disappeared in the lake two weeks ago.
Police said the agencies coordinated with each other to get a boat in the water and recover the body.
