The 2012 Boulevard Bolt is celebrating its 19th anniversary of raising funds to benefit the homeless with a 5-mile run/walk on Thanksgiving Day.
The course runs along Belle Meade Boulevard, with the start and finish taking place at St. George's Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Rd.
In 2011, approximately 8,500 adults and children registered for the annual fundraiser. Since the Boulevard Bolt began its charity event in 1994, more than $2 million has been distributed among dozens of local agencies that serve the homeless.

Take-out beer allowed again

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A change in state law means that officials are no longer cracking down on restaurants selling takeout craft beer.
The Daily Times (http://bit.ly/Zl8y7f) reports the new regulations mean the Smoky Mountain Brewery in Maryville is now serving "growlers" again. Growlers are jugs filled with draft beer that customers can take with them when the leave.
State regulators began cracking down on the practice earlier this year, which led to complaints from restaurants and patrons.
The Copper Cellar family of restaurants stopped selling takeout beer in all four of its East Tennessee locations for a time, but made changes in some locations that allowed sales to resume before the new law was passed.
Now, all their locations are able to offer the beer for off-site consumption.
