WBFF Fox 45 :: Cast of
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - One of the most anticipated shows of the season premiered on FOX tonight. "The Following" has already received rave reviews from critics and tonight you, the viewer, got to experience the thriller for yourself. We had the chance to sit down with all the stars of the show in Los Angeles to learn a little more about its premise and what you can expect in upcoming episodes. It all begins with serial killer Joe Carrols' escape from death row. Breaking free with the help of a cult that follows his every command.

"Everything is out of her love for Joe Carrol," says Valorie Currie (Denise). "If that means murder then that means murder."

Carrol's young son Joey is also a key character in the show and, like the rest of the cult, is trapped between good and evil.

"He doesn't know what to do, where to go, who to trust or who to listen to or believe, anything," says Kyle Catlett.

Brought in to help solve the case is the man who put Carrol behind bars. Played by Kevin Bacon, Ryan Hardy has issues of his own.

"He's a mess, a zombie, drinking too much, has very little focus in his life," says Kevin Bacon.

"The Following" is far from just a psychological thriller. Throughout the season will come a storyline of drama, suspense and even love.

"You hopefully wanna know what's making me tick, the serial killer tick, why would his wife have lived with him knowing what he was doing then once I bust him have an affair with me," says Bacon.

Responsible for making movies like "Scream" and shows like "Vampire Diaries", the show's creator says what makes "The Following" so fascinating is that the storyline is true crime.

"As much as I have loved dealing with vampires, at my core what I find scary is someone in my closet waiting for me," says Kevin Williamson. "That is scary."

The actors agree that while the storyline is highly fictional, the element of reality will be key in the show's longevity.

"We want to understand evil because it's true," says Shawn Ashmore. "It's not a crime of passion. It's manipulation and real thought and planning. We think if we can understand it we will protect those that we love."

If you missed the premiere, you can see an encore of it on Friday night. 14 new episodes begin Monday at 8pm right here on FOX17.Cast of "The Following" Says You'll be Hooked on this Drama
